A Software AG Case Study
This leading European private- and investment-banking group—managing over €500 billion in assets and repositioning itself as an entrepreneur-focused bank—faced a fragmented IT landscape that threatened costs, regulatory compliance and its ability to execute a digital transformation. Its application portfolio was split into three separate repositories (private banking, investment banking and infrastructure), creating isolated “islands” that obscured asset visibility and hindered strategic planning and control.
Beginning in 2008 the bank implemented Alfabet from Software AG to create a single, harmonized IT portfolio; in 2014 it extended Alfabet’s monitoring and strategic-planning capabilities and tightly integrated the tool with management, control and operational systems. The result was a comprehensive, trusted view of applications that enabled asset reuse and cost savings, simplified regulatory reporting, delivered analytics for fact-based strategic decisions, and provided a platform to accelerate digitalization initiatives such as cloud, DevOps, AI and automation.
