A Software AG Case Study
Australia Post, Australia’s national mail and parcel operator with around 80,000 employees and 7,000 retail outlets, faced a sudden COVID-driven surge in e‑commerce: online purchases jumped as much as 170% year‑on‑year in parts of the country, daily parcel volumes hit about 1.57 million, parcels became larger and heavier, and the organisation had reduced staff and air freight capacity. This created capacity, equipment and safety challenges that threatened timely delivery and worker safety.
To respond quickly, Australia Post deployed Software AG’s ARIS as a single process repository and used mobile QR‑linked SOPs, pallet and ULD tracking, and rapid training rollout to standardise operations and manage risk. The initiative sped communication of processes, leveraged pallet-management to save costs, improved compliance and safety controls, and delivered measurable results—most notably a 98% reduction in forklift/human three‑metre exclusion breaches—while enabling fast setup of pop‑up processing sites and better equipment utilisation.
