American Armed Forces Mutual Aid Association (AAFMAA) is a U.S. non-profit insurer managing more than $1.2 billion in assets. To improve customer engagement, increase returns on assets, and give members convenient self-service, AAFMAA needed to modernize its policy and member administration systems.

AAFMAA implemented a web and mobile self-service portal integrated with its Adabas/Natural core on a UNIX platform and adopted NaturalONE for development. The change reduced costs by about 50%, extended mobile self-service to roughly 120,000 users, attracted new developer talent, and allowed the organization to manage over $1 billion in assets with just 75 staff—delivering about 6% annual growth for members and keeping AAFMAA ahead of competitors.
