Weather Services International (WSI), the world’s leading provider of weather-driven business solutions, wanted to expand its market presence with a mobile weather application for iPhone. To stand out in an already crowded app market, WSI needed the app to be highly flexible, customizable, and able to differentiate its weather experience for different customers. SoftServe was selected as the long-term partner to help deliver it.

SoftServe built a feature-rich iPhone weather application using Objective-C, the iPhone SDK, Google MapKit, OpenGL ES 2.0, and related technologies. The solution included a skinning subsystem for customization, RSS and MRSS media support, and real-time overlay effects for improved performance. As a result, WSI strengthened its position in the weather solutions market and expanded the product to iPad and Android, extending the app’s reach across additional mobile platforms.
