Shell uncovers critical Security vulnerabilities Through a cyber attack Simulation

Shell, a global energy and petrochemicals company, turned to SoftServe after experiencing a cybersecurity incident and needed help evaluating the security posture and maturity of its IT organization. SoftServe was engaged to provide a Cyber Attack Simulation and Protection service, including application security assessments, cloud security assessments, and social engineering simulation attacks.

SoftServe ran a black-box cyber and social engineering attack simulation across Shell’s on-premises environment, internal IT infrastructure, third-party resources, external perimeter, public-facing web applications, and employee awareness. The assessment uncovered multiple critical, exploitable vulnerabilities that could have compromised sensitive data, and SoftServe provided recommendations to strengthen controls, improve security practices, and reduce the risk of significant financial loss.
