Medhost Realizes $1m in Infrastructure Savings with Online Personal Health Record Solution

MEDHOST, a healthcare solutions provider serving more than 1,000 facilities, needed a more efficient way to support online personal health records and provider communications. The company wanted to improve customer experience while addressing challenges such as manual deployments, limited production-like testing environments, inconsistent tooling, and the need for stronger availability, security, and disaster recovery. SoftServe partnered with MEDHOST on this initiative, working across the YourCare® solution environment and related infrastructure.

SoftServe implemented the solution in four phases, modernizing MEDHOST’s platform with Docker, AWS services, and infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform, Consul, Vault, Nomad, and Packer. The work included moving PostgreSQL databases to RDS, improving container density, automating release management and disaster recovery, and adding monitoring and code quality controls. As a result, MEDHOST achieved full traceability, faster releases, simplified infrastructure, and around $1M in infrastructure savings, including an estimated $800K in year-over-year savings and $200K in deploy/support savings.
