Anker, a market-leading provider of Point-of-Sale hardware, was looking for ways to reinvent its products for the Internet of Things without requiring major infrastructure changes for customers. Working with SoftServe, Anker explored how to add innovation to PoS systems used by multiple cashiers, including a face recognition-based cashier authentication concept integrated with Anker cash cassettes and PoS tablets.

SoftServe implemented a proof of concept consisting of a mobile iPad app and a backend Face Recognition service running on Google Cloud Platform. The solution lets authorized cashiers unlock the register and open the cash cassette using facial recognition instead of cards, passwords, or keys, improving security, speeding up login, reducing idle time from lost credentials, and giving better control over access to cash.
