AWS ProServe Hadoop Cloud Migration for Property and Casualty Insurance Leader

Property and Casualty Insurance Leader, a long-established insurer with more than 200 years of experience, needed to move its analytics environment off an on-prem Teradata Hadoop Appliance that was nearing support expiration and operating at over 80% capacity. The company faced space constraints, scaling limits, and migration delays after its initial AWS migration partner lacked sufficient AWS expertise. SoftServe was brought in to help stabilize the project and validate the target AWS-based analytics architecture using Amazon EMR.

SoftServe implemented a customized, secure Amazon EMR Hadoop cluster and guided the customer’s migration from on-prem Hadoop to AWS, integrating Ranger, Hive on LLAP, Atlas, EMRFS authorization, Active Directory/SSO, and other security controls. The project got the migration back on track, met the customer’s performance requirements after tuning, and enabled a cloud-native analytics platform with significantly improved scalability and lower infrastructure/support costs.
