RoadEng’s fast learning curve simplifies earthwork estimates Monette Farms Agricultural Drainage Project

PBS Water Engineering was hired to provide a pre-feasibility engineering solution for a large-scale agricultural drainage project. Their challenge was to efficiently process a large volume of drone survey data for a very flat 9,000-acre area and develop accurate profiles and earthwork quantities to create a cost estimate, which was critical for the client's decision to proceed. They turned to Softree Technical Systems and utilized its RoadEng Civil Engineer software to address these needs.

The solution implemented with Softree's RoadEng software involved using its Terrain and Location modules to optimize the placement of pump sites, pipelines, and ditches and to calculate earthwork. As a result, PBS Water Engineering was able to generate a high-confidence cost estimate just two weeks after purchasing the software, detailing 5.3 km of pipeline and 46.3 km of ditching. The Softree product's fast learning curve allowed the team to become proficient in a single day, enabling them to deliver the critical estimate quickly and confidently.
