Raising over £150,000 with a Softr-built platform to support refugee entrepreneurs

Skylight Ventures, a community-led non-profit fund developed by TERN, needed a better way to support refugee entrepreneurs applying for micro-credit in the UK. Their previous application platform was confusing, lacked customization, and couldn’t track funding repayment or support the remote, multi-judge review process they needed. They turned to Softr and Airtable to build a more accessible applicant tracking portal.

With Softr, Skylight Ventures launched a custom portal that centralizes applications, lets judges score submissions, automates funding and repayment workflows, and allows applicants and reviewers to log in and manage relevant information in one place. The platform helped Skylight move beyond pilot mode and raise over £150,000, supporting plans to reach 1,000 refugee entrepreneurs and distribute up to £600,000 in micro-credit by the end of 2025.
