Rugged Robotics cuts hardware costs with Softeq using a PCB that’s 1/5 the price of the original module

Rugged Robotics, a construction technology company, created a prototype robot rover for marking construction sites but faced performance and cost issues with its power system based on off-the-shelf modules. They engaged Softeq to develop a custom hardware solution to lower costs and improve the robot's power management, sensing, and safety capabilities.

Softeq designed a custom Battery Management System (BMS) and PCB to replace the inefficient power system. The solution provided real-time monitoring of voltages and currents, controlled battery safety, and enabled remote power management. Softeq delivered the project on time and on budget, with one custom microchip costing one-fifth the price of the original module while performing more functions.
