Nation’s Favorite Landmarks Open Up For Guests With Disabilities

World of Coca‑Cola and other major attractions needed to make exhibits and shows accessible to guests with visual or hearing impairments. Softeq delivered its DURATEQ assistive-technology solution — a rugged palm-size handheld running on the HP iPAQ/Windows Mobile platform with proprietary firmware and software (Captioning Studio and ALICE) — to provide closed captioning, descriptive narration, assistive listening and language translation.

Softeq paired the DURATEQ devices with site infrastructure (infrared emitters, FM transmitters and A/V controllers) and custom add-ons, delivering projects at scale — including 5,000 custom headsets and batteries for a major entertainment customer in six months (a week early) — and installations at 20–30+ landmark sites (National Park Service locations, World of Coca‑Cola, major theme parks). The result: a unified, scalable assistive platform deployed across 20+ U.S. attractions, measurable cost and maintenance savings, and improved guest satisfaction through an automated, easy-to-use immersive experience.
