Microsoft faced the challenge of integrating a partner’s standalone application into the default Windows 10 app pack while preserving the app’s branded look and feel and demonstrating smooth performance. Microsoft commissioned Softeq to build a UWP-driven prototype to prove the viability of adapting the existing app code for the Windows 10 environment.

Softeq decoded the source, rendered decoded frames and delivered a UWP-adapted demo that lets users download media from the device and view it on desktop PCs while keeping the device-native appearance. The Softeq prototype ran in the Windows 10 default app pack with excellent performance, required no separate installation, and proved viable across mobile, desktop and Xbox platforms—exceeding expectations.
