Case Study: Federal Communications Commission compliance achieved with Softeq

A Softeq Case Study

Preview of the Federal Communications Commission Case Study

Integration Of Audio Signal Into A 3rd Party Audio System On A Custom Android Device

Federal Communications Commission needed call center software on a custom rugged LTE Android smartphone to comply with U.S. call-recording laws, specifically ensuring callers hear a beep when a call is being monitored. Softeq worked on the R&D and OS modification needed to make the customer’s mobile recording software compliant.

Softeq modified the Android operating system at the driver level to allow external audio signals to be added into the outgoing channel, built an API for software-to-software communication, and created a test app to validate the setup. The solution was successfully tested on a similar Android device, where the beep played during outbound calls, confirming the compliance approach worked.
