Fits Small Memory Devices, Extends Ibeacon's Battery Life

Footmarks, a US-based software company building enterprise proximity-based data management and marketing solutions, needed its proprietary beacon-powered platform’s firmware upgraded to run on more advanced BLE 5.0 hardware and on cost‑effective beacons with very small flash memory. They engaged Softeq to port and optimize their iBeacon firmware and ensure the solution could leverage the capabilities of the Nordic nRF52 platform while preserving battery life and low-cost device constraints.

Softeq upgraded the iBeacon firmware from Nordic nRF51/BLE 4.2 to the power‑efficient nRF52/BLE 5.0, adapted the code for beacons with limited flash, optimized internal operations to reduce power draw (using Nordic’s Power Profiler Kit to identify and remove redundant processes), and delivered a provisioning app for batch device parameterization. As a result, Softeq enabled Footmarks to support more capable, lower‑cost beacons with measurable reductions in real‑time power consumption and extended battery life while maintaining full proximity analytics and personalization features.
