Converting Popular Online Strategy Game Into Multiplatform Mobile App

Bright Future, the development studio behind the popular browser strategy game Rail Nation (with over 3,000,000 registered players), needed to port the Flash-heavy title to mobile and engaged Softeq to deliver an Adobe AIR–based iOS and Android client. The brief required ActionScript 3 expertise to preserve the game’s rich graphics and client-server logic while enabling mobile authentication and secure data exchange.

Softeq implemented the mobile port using Adobe AIR/ActionScript 3, retaining the server-driven game logic, dynamic territory maps with 3D train models, and features such as Facebook login and encrypted data transfer; the project followed Agile methods to accelerate delivery. The initial release delivers core gameplay for mobile users and demonstrates strong collaboration by the Softeq team, preserving complex game data (e.g., 113 engine upgrades, 50 cities per map, ~500 avatars) and positioning Rail Nation’s 3,000,000-player community for phased feature rollouts.
