A Softeq Case Study
Christie Lites, North America’s largest stage lighting rental and production company, needed to automate inventory tracking across multiple warehouses and engaged Softeq for a full‑cycle, embedded software solution. Softeq was chosen for its low‑level programming and embedded systems expertise and proposed an active RFID/beacon based asset‑tracking system built on an embedded TCP/IP stack to monitor lighting equipment presence and status.
Softeq implemented small active RFID tags on each item that report hourly to a network of beacons, which forward data via Ethernet to Christie Lites’ servers; the system achieves failure‑free transfers, ultra‑low tag power consumption and extended tag durability (10+ years) while handling RF challenges in metal shelving. Softeq delivered a fully functioning prototype on schedule, ready for onsite testing and planned mass production, providing reliable automated inventory visibility and streamlined warehouse management.
