A Softeq Case Study
Hunity engaged Softeq to develop a novel bent-wrist smartphone prototype that would demonstrate NFC, touchscreen, sensors, cameras, and gesture-recognition emergency alerts in an unconventional form factor. The challenge was to turn a next‑gen vision into a buildable proof of concept: identify implementable features, work around limited bent‑screen technology and enclosure options, and create a roadmap while meeting tight hardware and software integration requirements.
Softeq delivered end-to-end hardware, enclosure and software development — designing a rigid‑flex PCB, integrating a custom bent touchscreen (sourced from a European vendor), cameras, heart‑rate and motion sensors, NFC and a bent plastic enclosure from an Italian manufacturer, and building a custom app ecosystem (audio player, NFC business-card exchange, motion/voice SOS, heart‑rate monitor, camera/video and tailored lock/launch screens). The result is a working bent smartphone prototype ready for investor demonstrations that proves the form factor and core features are viable; Softeq’s HAL and driver work enabled background NFC exchange and accurate heart‑rate readings, and the prototype defines the technical roadblocks (flex‑screen sizes, battery life, enclosure options) to address in the next development phase.
