Automatically Erases Sensitive Data From Ios/Android Devices

ITRenew, a US provider of IT solutions for data centers, needed a reliable way to sanitize iOS and Android phones/tablets before resale because factory resets left recoverable sensitive data. SOFTEQ was engaged to research methods and build a proof-of-concept desktop utility for macOS and Linux that automatically detects connected devices and wipes personal data and firmware as needed.

SOFTEQ delivered a modular PoC console application with automatic and manual modes that verifies erasure methods, updates or restores firmware without harming flash memory, and allows standalone use of wipe or firmware modules. The solution was delivered on time and on budget, accepted by ITRenew, and resulted in follow-on work to add features and scope a new project.
