Epson needed a desktop application to accompany its new FastFoto scanner that could quickly convert large batches of analog photo prints into organized digital galleries with cloud and social sharing. Softeq was engaged to build the bundled desktop app to automate installation, manage batch scanning from the 30-photo auto-feeder, and provide fast image processing and UX-driven image management.

Softeq implemented an installable app that auto-installs drivers, scans up to 30 photos per load, applies automatic or manual enhancement, color restoration, and a unique red-eye reduction algorithm (70% accuracy on 300 dpi scans), and adds searchable metadata, custom naming and upload/sharing to Google Drive, Dropbox and social media. The solution enabled Epson to launch the FastFoto product successfully, delivering a far faster, more affordable home scanning workflow than flatbed scanning or commercial scanning services.
