Preview of the UK-based Technology Company Case Study

An Algorithm Based Assistive Audio Recording Application

A UK‑based technology company providing hearing solutions and assistive listening devices (ALDs) engaged SOFTEQ to rescue development of a high‑quality Android/iOS audio recording and analysis app intended to help students with dyslexia. The client’s previous developer could not sufficiently suppress high‑ and low‑frequency noise, so they urgently needed a partner with deep audio‑processing expertise and U.S.‑standard project management to complete and release the product.

SOFTEQ implemented a custom algorithm with regulators that assess incoming sound (checking AGC, measuring RMS levels and adjusting for constantly high/low or sharp sounds) and delivered a feature set including MP4/WAV recording, up to 100 hours of capture, four quality settings, unlimited bookmarks, photo capture, and multiple export options. SOFTEQ completed the project on schedule, allowing time for bug fixes and a successful commercial launch on Google Play and the App Store; the app achieved markedly improved recording quality for assistive playback, and the customer plans to continue working with SOFTEQ on Mac and PC versions.
