A Softeq Case Study
Carrier Vibrating Equipment, a U.S. vibratory process solutions manufacturer, needed a proof-of-concept low-level solution to interface a TI vibration sensor with host devices over Bluetooth Low Energy and verify viability for production. Softeq was engaged on a fixed-price basis to design the API and implement a hardware prototype using the ConnectBlue OLP425 evaluation board, focusing on low energy consumption and reliable hardware communication.
Softeq delivered the Carrier Vibration Sensor (CVeVTS), a 3-axis 12-bit accelerometer-based device that transmits data via BLE, operates in Sleep/Advertising/Connected modes, and supports up to 1,250 Hz sampling with 512-sample acquisition intervals; a sample iOS app was also provided. The solution met or exceeded targets—sampling speed at 110%, full RAM buffering, and battery life goals (over 12 months in intermittent sleep mode, ~1 month in active use)—and Carrier Vibrating Equipment is now progressing toward a commercial product with Softeq providing firmware updates and PCB fabrication estimates.
