Leading US Based Manufacturer, a US-based manufacturer of gas fired, condensing, and electric water heaters and boilers, needed to add Modbus TCP and RTU connectivity to a new water heater controller and also wanted Wi‑Fi support for IoT use cases such as remote monitoring and predictive maintenance. The company selected Softdel for its industrial communication protocol expertise.

Softdel implemented a Modbus interface by porting its ready Modbus stack to a Freescale-based MCU platform and delivered native Modbus RTU and Modbus TCP slave support. Softdel also developed a touchscreen application, began work on a boot loader for factory programming, and is providing Wi‑Fi support using the Ayla Design Kit, helping the customer achieve market differentiation and a stronger competitive position with no specific quantitative metrics disclosed.
