Leading US-Based Manufacturer, a smart lighting and home automation OEM, needed a multi-protocol gateway to connect distributed lighting control systems across both wired and wireless environments. The challenge was to enable communication with proprietary CAN devices as well as ZigBee and Wi‑Fi networks, while also supporting OTA firmware upgrades, mobile-app commissioning, and BMS integration.

Softdel developed the gateway firmware and software, including Wi‑Fi OTA updates, ZigBee coordinator and node updates, commissioning features such as auto-discovery and duplicate address detection, scheduling, device locate, and power monitoring. Softdel also implemented ZigBee-Wi‑Fi coexistence, integrated the proprietary CAN and Softdel BACnet stacks, and enabled building management system and cloud connectivity, delivering a unified platform for smarter device management and interoperability.
