A Softdel Case Study
Leading Provider Of I/O Modules, a leading industrial control OEM, partnered with Softdel to address obsolescence in its operator interface hardware and to modernize its firmware. The customer needed to replace an aging hardware board, move its application from assembly language to C, and validate the new platform while supporting industrial control interfaces.
Softdel re-engineered the hardware and firmware by replacing the obsolete ASIC with an ARM-based microcontroller, migrating the firmware from assembly to C, and developing Modbus, DF1, and DH485 interfaces. The result was a future-proof, more maintainable common platform that extended product shelf life, reduced costs through reuse across legacy products, and improved documentation and long-term support.
