Leading provider of HVAC and BMS Control Systems needed to build a ZigBee-enabled smart programmable thermostat as part of its home area networking solution. The goal was to let utility firms access real-time monitoring and historical data for demand response, and the customer sought an engineering partner to fully own the design, implementation, and testing of the ZigBee-based interface. Softdel was selected for its expertise in advanced communication protocols and embedded product engineering.

Softdel delivered the ZigBee interface for the smart thermostat, covering requirements engineering, embedded application development on RTOS, EZSP-SPI communication between the Renesas microcontroller and network co-processor, and pre-certification testing for ZigBee readiness.
