Building Systems Unit Of a Leading Provider, a leading US-based manufacturer of smart lighting and home automation systems, needed to add a ZigBee interface to one of its home automation products. The goal was to support secure OTA firmware updates across the full light network, with the update process initiated from a smart device such as a mobile or tablet via BLE. The customer chose Softdel for its strong lighting-domain expertise and knowledge of ZigBee.

Softdel implemented a ZigBee 3.0 interface using HA 1.2 and ZLL profiles on SiLabs EM3587 and Mighty Gecko EFR32 chipsets, along with a secure OTA solution spanning ZigBee and Bluetooth Low Energy. The solution included BLE OTA updates, ZigBee coordinator and node updates, LED driver updates, secured joining for commissioning, ZSC-04 joining, and daylighting through an arbitrator. As a result, Softdel delivered a reliable, secure implementation with faster time to market and high-quality deliverables.
