Oxford Health safeguards systems and staff with Mimecast

Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust worked with Softcat PLC to strengthen its email security as cyber-attacks on staff email continued to rise. The Trust needed to protect its 8,000 employees from increasingly sophisticated phishing attempts, impersonation emails, malicious attachments, and harmful links, especially as it moved from on-premise Microsoft Exchange to Office 365. Softcat recommended Mimecast as the email security platform to help defend the organisation’s “virtual front door.”

Softcat PLC implemented Mimecast’s email hygiene and targeted threat protection features, including impersonation detection, sandboxing for attachments, and URL rewriting. The rollout was straightforward, with minimal disruption and very few user support calls, and it quickly improved visibility for IT teams. In the first few months, around 400% more spam and graymail was intercepted compared with before deployment, saving users time and helping staff focus more on delivering patient care.
