Henry Boot ensures rapid disaster recovery with Arcserve

Henry Boot, a company with a 130-year heritage and around 500 employees, needed to modernise its ageing backup and disaster recovery processes. Its existing setup was slow, hard to manage, and placed a heavy burden on the IT team, with nightly backups taking up to 20 hours and multiple solutions needed across a diverse environment including Hyper-V. Softcat PLC helped Henry Boot evaluate options and identify a more efficient disaster recovery approach, ultimately leading them to Arcserve.

Softcat PLC implemented an Arcserve disaster recovery solution using Arcserve Appliances, initially deploying two 16TB appliances and later expanding to two 80TB systems to cover additional workloads including Office 365. The new setup reduced full backup time from 20 hours to just two hours, achieved 81% deduplication on 145TB of raw data down to 28TB, and enabled critical servers to be recovered in under five minutes using instant VM. As a result, Henry Boot improved business continuity, safeguarded productivity, freed up IT resources, and strengthened long-term data management and GDPR compliance.
