COWI delivers Blue Ridge Parkway Bridge’s 275-foot main span with SOFiSTiK

The customer, COWI, faced the challenge of constructing the complex Blue Ridge Parkway Bridge over a busy interstate with limited site access. This required precise construction engineering and geometry control for the precast segmental design. They utilized SOFiSTiK to parametrically model and analyze the entire structure.

SOFiSTiK provided the solution by enabling a detailed parametric model of the bridge within its Grasshopper toolbox. This precise modeling was crucial for developing the accurate casting and erection geometry, which directly led to the successful precast segmental erection of the 62 segments over I-26. The use of SOFiSTiK was a key factor in the project's success, ensuring the structure was built correctly despite the significant site constraints.
