Wave Swell Energy deploys Spotter buoy for King Island project with Sofar Ocean

Wave Swell Energy faced the challenge of needing accurate marine data for all stages of its King Island wave energy project, from site characterization and converter design to installation and operational performance monitoring. To address this, the customer partnered with Sofar Ocean and deployed its Spotter wave buoy.

Sofar Ocean's solution provided both historical and real-time access to critical wave data. This information was used to establish the site's wave climate, assist in designing the energy converters, and plan safe installation within acceptable weather windows. After installation, the Spotter remained deployed to measure the power output against incoming waves, allowing for operational tuning and efficiency analysis, thereby helping to ensure the project's success.
