MOL Group, a global shipping leader, sought to improve operational efficiency and reduce emissions as part of its strategic decarbonization goals. To address this challenge, the company partnered with Sofar Ocean and deployed its Wayfinder dynamic voyage optimization platform across its diverse fleet of vessels.

Sofar Ocean's solution leveraged its global network of ocean sensors to provide highly accurate weather forecasts and data-driven vessel performance models. This enabled dynamic voyage optimization, which resulted in an average reduction of 6% in fuel consumption and emissions per voyage during a trial with 40 vessels. The implementation of Wayfinder by Sofar Ocean is a key component of MOL Group's strategy to reach net zero emissions by 2050.
