Integral Consulting validates nearly identical current measurements in 24 days with Sofar Ocean

Integral Consulting, Inc. required highly accurate and accessible subsurface ocean current data, a task traditionally handled by complex and costly Acoustic Doppler Current Profilers (ADCPs). They partnered with Sofar Ocean to utilize its Spotter Platform with an integrated Doppler Current Sensor for a field comparison study.

Sofar Ocean's solution proved to be a more accessible and cost-effective alternative to the ADCP. The results showed that the Spotter Platform's observations of current speed and direction were nearly identical to the industry-standard ADCP, with a strong linear curve fit (R² = .904). Furthermore, Sofar's solution offered significant advantages in remote data accessibility, reliability, and ease of deployment and recovery, leading to a substantially lower total cost of ownership.
