Eindhoven Chooses Socrata to Spark Citizen Engagement

Socrata partnered with the City of Eindhoven and Open Eindhoven to help the tech‑savvy Dutch city scale a comprehensive open‑data program aimed at boosting citizen engagement and co‑creation. Eindhoven evaluated building an open‑source platform but found the time, cost and ongoing maintenance would distract staff from collecting and using data, so they sought a trusted, turnkey solution that would quickly enable transparency and participation.

Eindhoven deployed Socrata’s pre‑built open‑data platform to publish geographic, financial and crime datasets with APIs and automated updates, plus plans for 3D maps, hackathons and a near‑real‑time performance dashboard. The city has already won recognition for its public geographic data, cut hosting and maintenance overhead, and gained greater transparency and developer access — accelerating apps, civic participation and trust in government.
