City of Granollers - Customer Case Study

Socrata worked with the City of Granollers to build opendata.granollers.cat, responding to new Spanish and Catalan transparency laws and a municipal goal to make government more transparent and participatory. Granollers — a mid-sized city near Barcelona — needed a platform to publish high-quality, reusable datasets so citizens could follow municipal action, access performance indicators, and contribute feedback.

Using the Socrata platform the city launched a visually appealing portal with searchable datasets (budgets, contracts, service consumption, transit data, etc.), mapping and analysis tools, and monthly public workshops to drive adoption. The portal helped Granollers earn a transparency seal from the Autonomous University of Barcelona, enabled data reuse for new services, and created a foundation for further civic and educational projects.
