Hippo partners with Socotra to support Hippo’s homeowners association (HOA) insurance product

Hippo (NYSE: HIPO), the home insurance group, needed to modernize and scale a homeowners association (HOA) insurance product that delivers tailored coverage and faster, simpler quotes without forcing customers through long, redundant applications. To do this, Hippo partnered with Socotra and leveraged Socotra’s cloud-native core platform and open APIs to handle policy lifecycle, complex rating, underwriting, and administration.

Using Socotra’s platform, Hippo streamlined quoting (eliminating 60+ question forms), combined property and liability into single policies and invoices, and launched its HOA product in August 2021, expanding into over 15 states to date. The Socotra partnership accelerated Hippo’s Commercial Lines growth, improved speed-to-market for state rollouts, and positions Hippo to scale toward serving more than 380,000 HOA communities nationwide.
