Pangea Pod Hotel secures guest billing at -30 C with Socket Mobile

Pangea Pod Hotel, a boutique hotel in Whistler, needed a durable solution to allow guests to securely purchase food and drink using their RFID room key wristbands. Their challenge was to find a product that could operate reliably in Whistler's extreme winter temperatures, down to -30 C, withstand constant commercial use, and prevent fraud by accurately identifying each guest. They turned to vendor Socket Mobile for a solution.

Socket Mobile implemented their D600 scanner, which successfully met the hotel's environmental and durability requirements. With support from Socket Mobile's team, the hotel integrated the scanner into their Lightspeed POS system and a custom application, enabling them to wirelessly and securely identify every guest by their room key. This solution provided guests with reassurance that their folio was protected by the latest technology and prevented charging errors.
