A SocialText Case Study
The Jacksonville Florida Sheriff’s Office (JSO) needed a better way for units to share timely, accurate crime intelligence—email and static intranet posts left reports lost in a “black hole,” delayed feedback, and made it hard to keep investigative teams aligned. The Crime Analysis Unit needed a collaborative, real-time process so analysts and officers could both contribute to and act on up-to-date information.
JSO deployed Socialtext as a searchable, wiki-style workspace called “Wikid 94,” using pages, tagging and workspaces to centralize reports and enable immediate officer feedback. The change created an efficient feedback loop, reduced reliance on email, improved the accuracy and relevance of analyses, and turned Socialtext into a core, always-accessible knowledge portal for investigations and crime trends.
