Celebrity Cruises Launches $1 Billion Ship at Naming Ceremony Headlined by Malala Yousafzai

Celebrity Cruises launched its $1 billion, 2,918-passenger ship Celebrity Edge with a star-studded naming ceremony headlined by Malala Yousafzai and needed to bring the event to a global audience with a professional, TV-quality live broadcast. To achieve that, Celebrity partnered with Socialive and used the Socialive live video creation and distribution platform to produce and distribute the event in real time across digital channels.

Socialive consolidated Celebrity’s multi-camera and audio feeds into a single production portal, enabled switching between live and pre-recorded content, added branded title cards and CTAs, moderated social comments, and simulcast to Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube. The result: approximately 275k cross-platform views and 3k Facebook interactions — about 91x the onboard audience — making the Celebrity Edge naming ceremony one of Celebrity’s most effective live broadcasts.
