Using Data to Manage Development Logistics

Goonj, a nonprofit in India, needed a better way to manage the huge volume of material it receives, processes, and distributes across a network spanning 21 states and more than 300 partner organizations. To improve logistics tracking and streamline this complex workflow, Goonj worked with SocialCops and used its Collect mobile data collection app.

With SocialCops’ Collect, Goonj digitized acknowledgments for contributions, tracked each stage of sorting and kit creation, and enabled data capture even without internet access. The rollout generated 43,000 data points, sent 6,700 email receipts and 3,200 SMS receipts, and helped Goonj manage more than 1,000 tons of material per year with greater visibility and efficiency.
