A SocialCops Case Study
The Tata Trusts, in partnership with the Government of Maharashtra, faced the challenge of creating targeted village development plans for the diverse and underdeveloped district of Chandrapur. With poor infrastructure, low computer literacy, and outdated village lists, the traditional 6-9 month microplanning process needed to be completed in just 90 days. They partnered with vendor SocialCops to overcome these obstacles and collect crucial household-level data.
SocialCops implemented its data collection platform, Collect, to train surveyors and gather 6.9 million data points from 290 villages. This data was analyzed and visualized on an interactive dashboard that provided automated village development plans. As a result, government officials used these plans to improve budgeting and program targeting; one block development officer incorporated 60% of the suggestions into his annual budget. SocialCops' solution enabled better policy decisions and more effective development interventions across the district.
