A SocialCops Case Study
Deepalaya, a nonprofit in Mewat, Haryana, India, established over 1,000 women’s self-help groups to fight gender discrimination, but struggled to measure the effectiveness and impact of this rapidly growing program across 84 villages. To better understand outcomes for the 12,000 women involved, Deepalaya turned to SocialCops and its Collect mobile data collection app to support a large-scale impact assessment.
SocialCops helped Deepalaya collect detailed data on the condition and broader financial, educational, social, gender, and cultural impacts of the self-help groups. Using a simple web dashboard to create surveys and GPS geotagging to verify field data, Deepalaya was able to assess 12,000 women across 1,335 self-help groups, tracking ₹410 million in total loans given and gaining visibility into each woman’s progress.
