Presidential Precinct Connects Community Leaders and Experts Across the World Using Socialcast by VMware

The Presidential Precinct is a Virginia-based non-profit consortium of six institutions that runs leadership programs (including the Mandela Washington Fellowship and Global Empowerment Forum) to empower emerging public-sector and civic leaders. After programs ended, participants lacked a reliable, secure way to stay connected with experts and peers; the organization needed a familiar, mobile-friendly platform with strong security, group support and rich search to sustain collaboration and mentorship.

The Precinct deployed Socialcast by VMware to create the Presidential Precinct Network (PPN), a secure online community for desktop and mobile collaboration, group discussions and live event broadcasts. Within its first year the PPN grew rapidly—bringing on users who generated over 5,000 professional connections across 100+ countries, broadcasting events to 1,500 viewers from 34 countries, and enabling tangible projects such as constitutional reform work and a 350-member women’s empowerment group.
