VerbalizeIt, an on-demand translation platform, faced a major traffic spike when it was chosen for ABC’s Shark Tank and expected millions of visitors to its newly launched self-service web, mobile, and API platform. Worried the site might not handle the surge, VerbalizeIt turned to SOASTA and its CloudTest On-Demand service to validate performance before the broadcast.

SOASTA’s performance engineers ran load tests of more than 10 million users, uncovering problems with site scalability, API slowdown, image hosting, and other conversion issues. After fixes were made, VerbalizeIt’s platform handled the Shark Tank traffic without downtime, with daily unique visitors rising from about 250 to more than 30,000 and the customer base growing 7x.
