Squarespace needed to ensure its ambitious Super Bowl XLIX campaign, “Dreaming with Jeff,” could handle massive traffic while showcasing a full-feature website with video, music, downloads, and transactions. The company partnered with SOASTA and its CloudTest platform to simulate real-user behavior at scale and avoid any performance issues during one of the biggest advertising events of the year.
SOASTA quickly built customized test scripts and helped Squarespace uncover a load balancer throughput issue at 135,000 virtual users. After moving large assets to a CDN and upgrading network and data center capacity, Squarespace re-tested up to 350,000 virtual users and 165,000 requests per second. With SOASTA, Squarespace handled about 30,000 requests per second at peak during the Super Bowl and launched successfully.
