How La Presse automates, optimizes and personalizes marketing in real time with Snowplow

La Presse, a fully digital French‑language media outlet reaching over half of Quebec’s population, faced the challenge of replacing its print model with a real‑time, event‑level analytics capability to automate marketing, personalize user experiences and compete with large ad platforms. To do this it selected Snowplow (Snowplow Insights) to move away from third‑party analytics, gain full control of data, and support real‑time decisioning across web, mobile and tablet.

Snowplow deployed a self‑hosted real‑time pipeline (trackers → Snowplow/Kinesis → S3 data lake with “lake shores”) feeding a custom customer journey builder and segment builder integrated with AWS. Snowplow enabled near‑zero latency actions and granular personalization, helping La Presse reduce unsubscribe rates, lift email/notification open rates by 25%, increase CTRs by 33%, detect churn earlier and contribute to CAD 2.5M in donations over four months, while delivering predictable total cost of ownership.
