Case Study: NatWest achieves lower costs and reduced carbon footprint with Snowflake

A Snowflake Case Study

Preview of the NatWest Case Study

With Snowflake, NatWest has lowered costs and reduced its carbon footprint while equipping customers with social responsibility insights that help them transition to net zero

NatWest, one of Britain’s largest and longest-standing retail and commercial banks, needed a better way to support ESG reporting, climate analytics, and compliance as regulations and net-zero goals expanded. Its on-premises systems could not handle the large, varied data sets, real-time analytics, and broad data distribution required for lending, investment, and ESG use cases, so the bank turned to Snowflake and its cloud data platform.

Snowflake helped NatWest modernize its ESG data environment, enabling more flexible analytics and a new cloud-focused data culture. The results were significant: NatWest reported an 80% reduction in total cost of ownership and carbon footprint, and saved one year during migration, while also improving its ability to deliver social responsibility insights to customers.
