Case Study: Intercontinental Exchange achieves lower costs and faster analytics with Snowflake

A Snowflake Case Study

Preview of the Intercontinental Exchange Case Study

With Snowflake, Intercontinental Exchange has lowered costs and increased operational efficiency while supporting regulatory compliance and reporting for global exchanges like the New York Stock Exchange

Intercontinental Exchange (ICE) and the New York Stock Exchange needed a better way to handle billions of daily transactional records for regulatory compliance, market surveillance, and customer reporting. Their on-premises data warehouse had limited capacity, caused archiving and hardware upgrade costs, and created reporting delays and concurrency issues. ICE turned to Snowflake Data Cloud and Snowpark to support growing analytics demands.

With Snowflake, ICE migrated key workloads to a scalable cloud platform that could handle terabytes of new data each day. The result was up to 80% better ad hoc query performance, more than 50% cost savings for NYSE’s regulatory reporting workload, and near-elimination of SLA issues for data availability. Snowflake helped Intercontinental Exchange improve operational efficiency while supporting regulatory compliance.
