Streamlining the Analytics Pipeline for Greater Performance

Sharethrough is the largest independent native advertising platform, serving more than three billion native ad impressions a month for leading publishers and brands. As their MySQL‑based analytics environment hit row and performance limits, reporting became slow and manual—queries took up to 45 minutes or required complex table work—and business users were forced to understand warehouse internals just to get answers.

Sharethrough rebuilt its pipeline on AWS with Snowflake as the core warehouse, Fivetran for extraction, and MicroStrategy for user-facing analytics, ingesting raw JSON from S3 and consolidating 40 TB of mixed data. The new stack is managed by a single person, reduced from 14 tools to four, and delivers massive speedups (analytics up to 2,000× faster, many reports now seconds or subsecond), runs 500–1,200 daily reports, and provides an infinitely scalable, lower‑cost analytics platform.
