A Snowflake Case Study
Snagajob, America’s largest online portal for hourly job seekers (65–70 million registered users), relied on business intelligence to match workers and employers and to surface hiring trends. Its on‑premises, monolithic OLTP-derived data warehouse struggled with slow queries and resource contention; a later Cloudera/Vertica deployment still faced projected capacity limits and couldn’t cost‑effectively handle daily peak-and-valley concurrency.
Snagajob moved analytics to Snowflake’s cloud data warehouse, which eliminated contention between sales and analysts, delivered much faster queries, and let the company scale compute up for morning peaks and down during lulls. The change produced three times the performance for the same cost—improving concurrency, scalability, and overall cost‑of‑performance by 300%.
